French loudspeaker manufacturer, Cabasse, has introduced the Ambrose 3 LCRS loudspeaker as an addition to the recently launched Altura MC range. Using the same BC-13 co-axial drive unit and the 17cm Duocell woofers of Egea 3, the new Ambrose 3 is a compact speaker designed for on wall and bookshelf use. The drive unit layout (often called d’Appolito design) with the 2-way coaxial midrange-tweeter unit situated between both woofers, combined with the slim design of the cabinet and sealed enclosure, make it ideally suited for on-wall use, either horizontally or vertically with the same optimum results. As a centre and surround speaker, it will ideally complement a Bora, Egea 3 or Iroise 3 stereo setup for a fully coherent multichannel extension. Cinema purists will use them as LCR front speakers placed vertically behind an acoustically transparent screen and as surround speakers, to ensure absolute tonal accuracy throughout the system. When combined with a Santorin 30 subwoofer, a 5.1, 7.1 or larger cinema system will produce the full range and dynamics required by demanding home cinema enthusiasts. The Ambrose 3 conforms to all the principles of Cabasse’s Spatial Coherent System (SCS) technology, which is found in many of the speakers produced by the company and is the culmination of many years research into the importance of point source reproduction from the drive units. The two way BC-13 is a coaxial drive unit which provides regular directivity and an incredibly transparency across frequency ranges, with no irregularities in the overlapping zones between the ring shaped midrange and dome tweeter channels. Available in golden cherry or santos real wood veneers or a high gloss black finish, the Ambrose 3 is available now.
