New from Q

Q Acoustics has released details of its all new 2000 series of loudspeakers, which, it reckons, delivers both unrivalled sonic performance and breathtaking value for money. It is also considered to have “a very stylish appearance,” the company adds. You will be able to decide for yourself when the new models go on sale in late 2009. The appearance of the Q2000 Series does indeed make a striking design statement. All the cabinet dimensions have changed, so each speaker appears to present a slimmer and deeper profile. As well as traditional Graphite Black and Walnut finishes, at a small extra cost, the models are available in Piano Gloss Black and Piano Gloss White finishes. To enhance their visual impact, all the speaker cable terminals are mounted on a recessed plate on the bottom of each speaker (excluding the 2070 Subwoofer). Not only does this look far better, because there are no speaker cables protruding from the rear of the cabinet, but it also enables the speaker to be placed very close to a rear wall, without the speaker terminals or cable getting in the way. Every part of the new speakers is bespoke, and optimized specifically for each new model. The tweeter, bass/midrange drivers, magnets, cone mass, cone rigidity, cone material, crossovers, terminal panel and fully braced cabinets are all designed with the sole purpose of creating the very best performing, lowest distortion, affordable loudspeakers available. Prices for the new speakers begin at £109.90/£129.90 (depending on finish) for the 2010 rising to £369.90/£449.90 for the floor-standing 2050. The range also features a versatile, active subwoofer that is a DSP (Digital Signal Processing) driven system with class D amplification. It can be optimized to suit either ported loudspeaker or infinite baffle (sealed box) designs n
