CABASSE LAUNCHES THE PACIFIC 3 SA LOUDSPEAKERS

Paris, September 2010. At its worldwide distributor conference, Cabasse launched the latest addition to the Artis range of high-end loudspeakers, the Pacific 3 SA. Pacific 3 SA is the first tower loudspeaker from Cabasse to feature the BC17 coaxial drive unit, originally developed for the highly praised Riga design-speaker. The constant control of signal directivity across the 175Hz - 20kHz operating range of the BC17, with its ring shaped low-midrange woofer and dome midrange-tweeter, provides the Pacific 3 SA with all the benefits of Cabasse’s SCS principles. SCS, or Spatially Coherent System, is the result of many years’ research by the company into the reproduction of the original timbre and dynamic range across a stable and full soundstage, which is realised through the range of spherical co-axial drive units. Complementing the BC17 are two 21cm (8”) low-frequency units. The inverted honeycomb domes, manufactured from Nomex, to be ultra rigid but very light, are developments of the 55cm (22”) unit from the £108,000 flagship, La Sphère. The drive units are actively driven by a 450 watt Cabasse designed built-in amplifier, hence the SA or semi-active name. This provides powerful, but very well controlled, and adjustable, low frequency output down to 37Hz, in a cabinet that is 20% less deep than would otherwise have been required in a passive speaker. Finished in a piano black or gloss pearl finish, the 1.29m tall cabinet, is just 29cm wide and 49cm deep and is designed with a curved front baffle and fluted side panels to reduce standing wave occurrence within the cabinet. On sale in the UK from October, the Pacific 3 SA will have a retail price of £11,000.
